Just Cats was founded when 4 little two day old babies were left nursing on their dead mother's body.  No one wanted to help.  All rescue groups were over whelmed, shelters said they would kill them, so that left our founder to figure out what to do with 2 day old kittens.  Having always done some sort of rescue, this was a NEW challenge.  Not only had their mother died, but she died of distemper, opening an entire new issue.

Against everyone's advice, the kittens were bottle fed and although some infections here and there occurred they grew and flourished. They beat all odds and are alive and well and living with their rescuer at Just Cats. This prompted Just Cats to be born. A promise was made that "NO" would never be an answer, that Just Cats would always help anyone who needed it. This DOES NOT mean any and all cats are taken in.  Just Cats assists people to find the answers through so many means, be it advice, counseling, referring to rescues.  We network with whoever has the availability and we also made the promise that NO NO NO NO NO animal would EVER be euthanized.

We are not LOW KILL.  We are strictly NO KILL - Never, sickly, dying or otherwise has an animal in our care been euthanized. We just wont do it. We will make them comfortable, we will use pain medication via our vets, we will do anything to save a kid, if it is their time to go, we will lay with them and let them pass naturally. BUT never ever will we euthanize. The old, sick and the dying have come to us, the unadoptable, the chronically ill, we will never euthanize under ANY circumstances.

This is something we are VERY proud of. We also will NEVER get involved with a rescue if ANY of the animals are to be euthanized. We have done many hoarder/collector/ abusive rescues where the animals were in such poor, poor shape but never did we euthanize anyone and when working with the authorities in some of these cases it was imperative they knew we wouldn't help if they planned on killing "sickly" cats.
